I'm not a chef, or even claim to be an excellent cook, which is why I wanted to share this EASY recipe of how to make a homemade hamburger. It's so simple to make, and so delicious! I just made these the other day and my son, Liam, was blown away by how yummy it was. He wanted to make his own hamburgers, so of course, I let him make one with these simple steps:
1 lb Lean Ground Beef
1 Yellow Onion
1 Green Lettuce
One Bag of Hawaiian Sweet Hamburger Buns
Step 1: My number one rule in my kitchen is always wash your hands and tie your hair up before you start cooking. Of course, those with short hair doesn't need to tie it up. :)
Diced up the yellow onion.
Step 2: Take your ground beef and mix it with the chopped onions.
Step 3: Roll the patty into a ball and continue to mix it. However big you want your hamburgers, is how much ground beef you'll need. I made mini hamburgers because I made these for my kids so mine was about the size of my palm.
Step 4: Flatten the patty with the palm of your hand.
Step 5: I never know what to marinate or season my meat with, so I always tell myself, when in doubt, add salt and pepper. A pinch of it goes on both side of the patty.
Step 6: Instead of cooking it on a BBQ grill, just pan fry it. Add a little extra virgin olive oil. Cook each side for about 5-10 min under medium heat. Continue to flip it so that it'll cook evenly on both side.
Step 7: Once the patties are cooked, I take my Hawaiian Bread Buns and toast it on the same pan I use to make my patties. This adds more flavor to the bread.
Just a Tip: The secret to a good hamburger is the buns. When you have soft, sweet bread, the hamburger will taste amazing! And these Hawaiian bread are by far the best!
Step 8: Slice your tomatoes, and squeeze some organic ketchup and dijon mustard onto the toasted buns.
Step 9: Put the cooked patty on top, along with the tomatoes and lettuce. I didn't include any raw onions because it's already cooked into the patty, but feel free to add it if you like.
All finished!!! A simple homemade hamburger is all done. Taste it and you'll be amaze by how delicious it is.
